Vegan Elderberry Croissant

Happy National Croissant Day! Did you know that was a holiday? Me neither!

But good news I literally just had the best vegan croissant this past week in Universal Orlando Resort purely by coincidence. Admittedly the day I had it, it was not what I was originally going to eat at all. I was trying to get a full meal but 3 separate places "just didn't have" their vegan options that day including the place where I got the croissant.

Luckily this was a super yummy back up choice. I hadn't been to Universal in almost 2 years so I was overly prepared with a list of food and drink options I wrote down and was folded up in my fanny pack that I kept pulling out when it came to meal time.

I honestly suggest this to anyone with dietary restrictions before going to a theme park. Do your research before you get there and try to plan ahead. Obviously like in my case, you can't always get what you go for first so have as much listed as possible to give plenty of options.

So while I was going into San Fransisco Pastry Co for their Veggie Press, I ended up with a sweeter treat instead. It is a cute little shop located on the Universal Studios Florida side with sandwiches and baked goods available.

My husband, while he does have dietary restrictions, usually he ignores them in theme parks so he had a sandwich he rather enjoyed. I do believe they had one other vegan option in their bakery on that day but I had already seen someone else suggest the elderberry croissant in a group on Facebook so I decided to give this one a try.

I will admit it was WAY better than what I was expecting. I love croissants, I feel like you can't go wrong there. But I have had some bad fillings in my life. And elderberry is one of those things that can be way too tart if not done correctly. Lucky for us, they have done a jam up job with this. I'm so sorry, I didn't even mean for that to be a pun.

The croissant was super duper fluffy and the elderberry filling was absolutely delicious! Now the one down side, I didn't get filling until literally this bite that I pictured above which was halfway through the croissant. And I was so flustered with trying to find food at that point I had forgotten it was suppose to have filling so it was a nice surprise but definitely would have been better throughout the whole croissant!

So do I recommend this as a meal? Well it's not the most filling thing ever. Wow, all those puns. So I did have to get another snack when we jumped back over to Islands of Adventure. But it was an awesome treat that didn't make me feel gross afterwards to where I couldn't immediately hop back on a ride so that was a nice change from the normal theme park noms. And for less than $4 you can't really beat it.

I would absolutely get this again! So I guess I'm kinda grateful that all the other places turned me down, but I hope to try the things I was really going for next time!
